R-22 pressure temperature chart

The R-22 PT chart shows the pressure and temperature relationship used to read refrigerant saturation from a gauge. This page points you to the manufacturer chart source, explains how to read bubble and dew points for blends, and gives basic service notes for gauges, superheat, and subcooling.

Bubble point and dew point (answers: Which point do I use for subcooling and superheat?)

For blends, use the bubble point for subcooling and the dew point for superheat. If the refrigerant has glide, the saturation temperature can differ depending on which point you use, so confirm the target method before comparing your gauge reading to the chart.

Using the R-22 chart with gauges (answers: Can I still buy R-22?)

With gauges, you match the measured pressure to the chart to estimate saturation temperature, then compare that value to the equipment target. Superheat is checked on the vapor side, and subcooling is checked on the liquid side. If you want a related calculator, see superheat and subcooling calculator.

R-22 safety and handling notes (answers: What do I need to know before servicing?)

R-22 is an HCFC refrigerant. Service work should follow the equipment label, the product documentation, and proper recovery practices before any opening of the system. For broader policy context, see AIM Act changes.

Compare with other refrigerants (answers: How does R-22 compare with R-410A?)

R-22 is not the same as R-410A, so the pressure temperature relationship and service targets are different. Do not swap charts between refrigerants. For more site tools and reminders, visit HVAC Refrigerant Log waitlist or return to the home page.
